Commonwealth Care Bridge Roll-Out: One Last Chance To Get It Right
Today’s Globe article, “Immigrants face hurdles with new care coverage, points out that many of the legal immigrants who were automatically enrolled in Commonwealth Care Bridge program on Oct. 1st and Nov. 1st experienced delays in receiving enrollment materials. This is an issue HCFA’s HelpLine and outreach workers at a number of Boston-area community health centers have heard from their clients.
In the article, CeltiCare says the state was tardy in sending over the list of enrollees to the insurer. The Connector says, “We were not late.”
We don’t know exactly what caused the delays for the first two waves of enrollment. The third (and last) wave of enrollees, in central and western Massachusetts, become eligible on December 1. We think it’s not too much to ask that they have their enrollment information in advance of their start date.
CeltiCare and the state need to coordinate to ensure that CommCare Bridge members enrolled on December 1st receive their enrollment materials prior to their enrollment date, as originally intended. We call on the parties involved to work together so that CeltiCare mails out the enrollment packets by November 23rd at the latest. We will report back if this goal is met or not.
This is your last chance, guys, to get it right.
