One of our Consumer Health Quality Council members, Linda Klein, took it upon herself to send a hand-written letter to David Ortiz informing him of ways to protect himself from infection when he undergoes knee surgery.

Dear Mr. Ortiz,
I understand you will be undergoing knee surgery soon. Enclosed please find a list of steps patients can take (link to http://www.hospitalinfection.org/protectyourefl.shtml) to protect themselves from infection.
I became an advocate for patient safety after my mother died in a Boston hospital—from preventable errors.
Your Red Sox performance has been so impressive, as has the teamwork displayed by all members of the team.
My very best wishes,
Linda S. Klein

The motivated and dedicated members of our Consumer Health Quality Council are working to activate and educate other consumers, from their next door neighbors to Red Sox stars, because they have been personally impacted by infections and other errors and don’t want to see such things happen to others. They are even taking the time to look out for the best interest of Red Sox Nation!
