Patient Safety Awareness Week begins March 5. HCFA and the Consumer Health Quality Council are marking the week in two ways – a blog each day written by an expert in the field of patient safety and an event at the State House focusing on the recently-released public reports on infections and Serious Reportable Events.
The State House event is Tuesday, March 6, 9:30-10:30, in Members Lounge. Speakers will include three legislative champions for patient safety, Senator Richard Moore, Representative Jeffrey Sanchez, and Representative Denise Provost; Dr. Madeleine Biondolillo, Director, and Iyah Romm, Special Assistant to the Director, from the Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality; Dalia Al-Othman, member of HCFA’s Consumer Council; Nicola Truppin, President of the Consumer Council; and Amy Whitcomb Slemmer, HCFA’s Executive Director. The event is open to the public. A light breakfast will be provided. Contact Kaitlyn Rhodes at krhodes@hcfama.org with any questions. Check out our earlier post to familiarize yourself with the infection and SRE reports.
