Last week, HCFA delivered thousands of messages to the Senate urging support for a budget amendment to preserve MassHealth adult dental care. The slides above show a crew from the Affordable Care Today!! coalition and the Oral Health Advocacy Task Force dropping off post cards at Senate offices.
Senator Chandler’s amendment (#662) to stop the cuts had nine cosponsors as of Friday: Senators Chang-Diaz, Hart, Jehlen, Eldridge, Fargo, O’Leary, Spilka, Flanagan and Morrissey. We expect more Senators to sign on by Wednesday, the start of the Senate budget debate.
YOU CAN HELP
If your Senator already is a cosponsor of the amendment, please call and thank him or her and urge the Senator to make preserving dental benefits a top priority. If your Senator is not yet a supporter, please call and ask for support. Our oral health alert page has fact sheets and more instructions. Please call now!

I talked to Senator Chandler’s office today. The office informed me that there is only a 50% chance of the amendment clearing. The Senate W&M has not given the go-ahead yet.
I left a message for Sen. Buoniconti. They are discussing the budget today.
Senator Kennedy is supporting – so is Senator Mike Moore. Can you also call Senator Menard? She is also leaning towards supporting the amendment.
Try to call Senator Thomas P. Kennedy at 617- 722-1200.
He will support it if he gets enough calls.
Senator Downing is as well
Senators Hart, Tucker, Candaras are also supporters, which brings the number to 13 (including Senator Chandler). Senator Tolman is also leaning that way. So it would be good if people can call Senator Tolman and make sure that he is a supporter.
