Proud to Lead the Country in Reform: Happy Anniversary, Chapter 58!

This is the 4th anniversary of the passage of Massachusetts health reform; four years ago today, we enacted our landmark health care reform bill that paved the way for national reform. Take a moment this morning to think about how far we’ve come – as a state and as a nation – thanks to Chapter 58.

We are, by far, the most insured in the country. Health outcomes are beginning to improve, with increased access to health insurance. All stakeholders who worked on passage of the law remain partners in its success, setting up the Commonwealth well for our current and future conversations on additional reforms.

Congratulations to all.

Neil wonders if “?” has ever seen a revolution without any turmoil. As Lindsey stated Chapter 58 lays the groundwork for future reform.

Four years later, costs are escalating so much that the DOI and insurers have to go to court and argue over rate increases. Not cost reductions, but how much should rates go up!
Yes we have fewer uninsured, give more people free insurance and make more people eligible for subsidies – that’s easy.
As society continues to take more from the middle class, we are creating a death spiral of wealth transfer that will cause our financial system to collapse, and taxes increase…oh wait..that has already happened.

  4. Harold says:

Enrollment, and access, has been expanded on a quantitative level.
Perhaps the last commenter might like some cheese to go with their whine ?

  5. ? says:

Four years of insurance reform culminating in providers shutting down new enrollees, and next to nothing in care reform, is, exactly, what to be proud of?
