Health Reform Is Good For Massachusetts: Senator Kerry with the Details

So, forget the rhetoric, and enough with the misdirection and talking points we’re inundated with on a daily basis — the reality is really very simple:

This bill makes the Massachusetts health care system much, much stronger.

It strengthens Massachusetts’ health insurance reforms, brings new federal subsidies into the state, and gives huge benefits to the people and businesses of Massachusetts.

Senator Kerry posted this on Blue Mass Group today, and linked to detailed fact sheet on the specific impact of reform on Massachusetts.

The news is very good news. Highlights:

  • More funds for MassHealth – some $2 billion over 10 years
  • additional funds for preventive services and primary care
  • additional funds for community health centers
  • increased funding for children’s health
  • tax credit for medical research discoveries
  • federal assistance for legal immigrants
  • preserves our consumer protections and the role of the Connector

If you live in Congressman Lynch’s district, you should let him know what the bill does for Massachusetts.
