RWJ Awards Massachusetts $1 million for Maximizing Enrollment for Kids Initiative

Massachusetts Office of Medicaid, in collaboration with UMASS Medical School, will receive $1 million from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to participate in a national initiative to increase enrollment of children eligible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Massachusetts is one of only eight states – out of 28 applicants – to receive funding. Congrats!

It is estimated that only 1.2% of Massachusetts children are uninsured, and 2-3% of likely CHIP-eligible children are unenrolled. Massachusetts has the lowest rate of uninsurance in the nation for both children and adults. The state’s press release states, “With support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Massachusetts hopes to become the first state to achieve full participation for eligible children.” We hope so too!
