Inevitable: Health Care and Taxes

Tax season is coming!

This week, the Department of Revenue released its draft 2008 Schedule HC and accompanying instructions. The schedule is the tax form Massachusetts tax-filers have to fill out, demonstrating they had or did not have health coverage for all or part of 2008. The tax forms also include the process for paying the individual mandate penalty for not having coverage if there was an affordable option available. The schedule and the instructions are open to public comment, and all recommended changes are due by Friday, October 31, one week from today.

Like all tax documents, these are important and complex. We encourage all interested parties to take a look and let DOR (fordp@dor.state.ma.us) know what you think.

Geez, Stemulite. Perhaps the DOR could just distribute cyanide capsules to us all that we could swallow at the first sign of serious illness. You neocons kill me!

  2. Stemulite says:

I find these documents to be extremely taxing (no pun intended). Moreover, I question the ‘religious exemption’ option. Each and every uninsured individual who experiences a health emergency places a burden on the all parts of the health system. I’m sorry, but I cannot agree with ‘religious exemptions’.
