Quality & Cost Council Asks for More Funding

Katharine London, Executive Director of the Health Care Quality and Cost Council (HCQCC), submitted a letter on behalf of the Council to legislative leaders asking for $2,373,961 in the FY09 budget. The Governor’s budget, or H2, which was released in January, allocated $1.89M for the Council. According to the budget request letter, the additional funding would assist the council to meet its statutory mandates under Chapter 58 and would assist the Council to pursue more concentrated and systemic cost containment strategies. The letter states that the additional funding would support the launch of its website (which was supposed to go live in March) and pursue the strategies proposed by S2526 (Senator Murray’s Bill, still in the Health Care Financing Committee). Accompanying the letter was a list of the Council’s FY08 Accomplishments.
