Three days before the Connector Board is scheduled to vote on an affordability schedule for implementation of the individual mandate, the Affordable Care Today (ACT!!) Coalition issued a call for an affordability schedule that does not punish the state’s economically vulnerable residents. The Coalition is concerned that if the affordability schedule — which will determine who is punished for not purchasing health insurance — is too aggressive, it will harm low-income residents and trigger a backlash against health reform.
Earlier today, ACT!! sent this letter to Governor Patrick, urging him to engage in an open dialogue on affordability and work toward a cautious approach to protect as many people as possible. Click here to see the press release.
